With the help of this chemical process, rest of the sugar slowly turns into alcohol before being put in oak barrels. Oak barrels lend them with a unique aroma which adds to the allure of this wine.

Wine makers know very well that Merlot grapes can serve as an excellent blending agent while making wines. They offer the opportunity to come up with new flavors by carefully blending them with other varieties of grapes.
